The National Restaurant Association (NRA) has appointed Marvin Irby as interim CEO as it continues to search for a permanent replacement for Dawn Sweeney, who retired at the end of 2019.
Irby has served as the CFO of the association and its foundation since 2010 and recently assumed the role of chief people officer. Irby brings extensive experience to the interim role, including current oversight of facilities management and prior oversight of board operations, information technology, and the NRA’s legal team. “His track record of accomplishments, coupled with his systemic understanding of our organization and its culture, have prepared him well for this role,” the NRA said in a statement.
Sweeney announced her retirement shortly before the NRA Show last May. She led the organization since 2007 and oversaw a nearly 50 percent growth in association membership during that time.
